1st International Legion

A unit in which military volunteers with citizenship of other countries serve.


The unit was created on February 27, 2022 at the initiative of the President of Ukraine to provide an opportunity for foreign volunteers to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a joint fight against the Russian invaders.


Each fighter has their own unique motivation for joining, but each of them does everything to help Ukrainians in the fight for independence. Despite different languages, religions and nationalities, they all became brothers in the unit.

2nd International Legion

The Second International Legion foremost unites Ukrainians, Belorusians, and Georgians and other nations – the nations for whom this war is a fight for existence. We gather all who are ready to stand for democracy, liberty, and national independence, anyone willing to end Russian imperialism once and for all. We are fighting, and we will prevail.

 

Our Ligioners have set for themselves an ambitious goal - to curb Russian imperial ambitions once and for all. The core of the 2nd International Legion consists of Ukrainians, Belorusians, and Georgians - people who have suffered from expansionist policies, military aggression, repression, and assimilationism for centuries, all stemming from the same source – Russian Empire, Soviet Union, and now Russian Federation. Ukrainian battlefield can be the one where this expansionist lust can and will be stopped. The Legion also took in many warriors from all around the globe – none of them wants to see our world ruled by nuclear strongmen who draw the borders and erase nations at a whim. We take this fight personally, we stand together, and we will win.

Separate Special Forces Battalion - 3rd International Defense Legion of Ukraine
The International Defense Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in which military volunteers - citizens of other countries - serve. It was created by the Government of Ukraine at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky to fight against Russia during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

3 The International Legion of Defense of Ukraine has been directly participating in battles on the outskirts of settlements in Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Kursk regions since 2022. The volunteers include citizens from more than 20 countries. Among the awards received by the special forces battalion is the award of the President of Ukraine - the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine", the Order "For Courage" of the 3rd degree, the honorary awards of the Commander-in-Chief "Golden Cross" and "Steel Cross", awards of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine - the medal "Badge of Honor" and the medal "For Wounds", breastplates of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "For Military Valor", medals "To the Defender of Ukraine" and others.

4th International Legion

4th International Legion of Defense of Ukraine – a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where foreigners with combat experience gained in the combat zone in Ukraine serve. The unit is engaged in performing various tasks, in particular, training foreign volunteers who want to join the Defense Forces of Ukraine, but do not have experience of military service.
Signing a military contract, receiving uniforms and equipment, completing the basic course of a serviceman and passing final exams takes place in the unit. In the future, the choice of a military combat unit for service, according to the contract.


The unit uses three languages ​​– English, Ukrainian, Spanish. All instructors have experience of military service and combat experience gained in Ukraine. The Legion trains recruits, as well as volunteers with experience of military service in their country, for better adaptation to modern combat conditions and expansion of basic knowledge.

425th Separate Assault Regiment "SKALA"

The 425th Separate Assault Regiment "SKALA" is a special unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, specializing in aerial reconnaissance and assault operations. The regiment has a BPAK company, tank and rocket artillery units. The 425th OSHP has its own training center, which provides specialized training for assault troops, aerial reconnaissance and personnel for operating armored vehicles. Over the three years of the war, the "SKALA" regiment has demonstrated high efficiency on the battlefield, which is achieved thanks to individual training of assault troops, high-quality logistical support and the involvement of highly qualified specialists at all levels of combat missions.

Khartiia

Khartiia is the 13th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, actively engaged in combat in the northern part of the Kharkiv region. The brigade is renowned for its use of advanced battlefield technologies, rigorous training, and meticulous planning of combat missions.


The brigade's international unit was established in April 2024 by highly experienced combat commanders. We offer intensive training, continuous development for our fighters, and a high level of administrative support for foreign soldiers.

 

Khartiia’s International Unit is currently accepting English- and Spanish-speaking recruits.

23th Separate Mechanized Brigade

The brigade was formed on February 28, 2023. In June 2023, it participated in the liberation of the village of Novodarivka and the battles for Robotyne.


Since November 2023, the brigade's units have been fighting in the Avdiivka direction, successfully repelling the enemy's advance.


During the offensive of Russian troops on Kharkiv in the summer of 2024, individual units of the brigade participated in repelling the attack and containing the enemy on the approaches to the city. At the same time, the main forces of the 23rd brigade conducted active combat operations in the area of ​​Chasovy Yar and Toretsk, Donetsk region. Since the beginning of November 2024, the brigade has been defending the country in the direction of Kurakhove, confronting superior enemy forces and slowing down their further advance with incredible efforts.

 

ARMBAND:


The brigade's emblem depicts a golden bow with crossed golden arrows, above which is a silver eight-pointed star.


This symbol was used on the seal of the Samara palanquin of the Zaporizhzhia Army, which emphasizes the heritage of the fighting traditions of the Ukrainian Cossacks.


The bow and arrows symbolize strength, speed and accuracy, and the star symbolizes the desire for victory and the honor of the soldiers defending Ukraine. Gold and silver in heraldry mean valor, wisdom and indomitability of spirit, which fully corresponds to the character of the brigade.
